UX/UI Design / Visual Research

The Invisible Rainforest is an augmented experience and research project in collaboration with the Eden Project Cornwall and the technology partners Meta Camera and AQL. The experience allows visitors to delve into the world beyond the limits of human senses and uncover the vibrancy of the life flowing through the bodies of the multitude of species in the Rainforest Biome at Eden Project.

WEATHER MAKER

Rainforests make weather and regulate the climate. Trees have their feet in the soil and their heads in the air. Inside their trunks an invisible two-way super highway connects these worlds together. All known complex life depends on oxygen, carbon and water. These essential ingredients are constantly moving in vast, invisible, planetary cycles that have been going on for billions of years; moving between earth, air and life.

Living Lens

A bee’s view of the rainforest bursts with colour and pattern. Except for red, they see the same colours as we do and they can detect things that we can’t… ultraviolet, and static electricity.

Through ultraviolet, bees can see patterns on flowers, guiding them in to feed on the nectar. Static charges on flowers tell bees which ones are full of nectar, and which have been recently visited by another pollinator. The bee and the star fruit tree have formed a special relationship, evolving together to survive in the rainforest.

Other chapters in Living Lens include exploring the Biome through the eyes of a Mosquito and Bat.
